Use the artist brush to paint faded brushstrokes and vary the amount of paint that is deposited on an image. To paint with the artist brush, select it and then drag the artist brush.
To set the options for the artist brush:
1. Double-click the artist brush, or select the artist brush and choose Artist Brush from the Options menu. The Artist Brush dialog box opens.
2. Change the settings for the artist brush.
• Repeat Rate sets the number of times per second paint is deposited on the image when the pointer is stationary (enter a value between 0 and 20).
• Fade Out sets the number of times paint is deposited on the image before the artist brush “runs out of paint.” Enter a value between 0 and 999. The higher the number, the longer you can paint before the brushstrokes fade. Enter 0 if you don't want the brushstrokes to fade.
• Opacity sets the translucency of the artist brush. Enter a value between 1% and 100% (the lower the number, the more translucent the image).
3. Select a paint mode.
• Normal Paint applies a solid coat of paint using the foreground color.
• Color Only paints with the foreground color but retains the saturation of the colors in the image.
• Darken Only compares the colors under the artist brush with the foreground color, and paints the image the darker of the two.
• Lighten Only compares the colors under the artist brush with the foreground color, and paints the image the lighter of the two.
